Industry: web, app development, graphic design
Design problem: create a simple laconic professional custom logo design with a distinctive graphic element (logomark) that would give a hint about client's creative field and could be used on its own without a text. The client asked for a simple colour palette and closer to the end of the project we settled on a bright orange colour as it projects warmth, energy, and feels really fresh.
Creative solution: finalized and approved by the client custom made logo design consists of the logo icon (can be used on its own or as a supporting visual) and sans-serif with slight modulation and curvature wordmark. The logomark represents a hand with a pencil instead of forefinger meaning creative field, greaphic design, and illustration.
Junzen is a Saudi Arabia based creative team of graphic designers and web-app developers. The word junzen is a combination of two words Tanjun (Japanese for simplicity) and Kaizen (Japanese business philosophy of continuous improvement of work).
Well, this project was a bit challenging but a hundred percent rewarding. It was my responsibility to ask more questions and get more clearly what the client wanted from the very beginning. Thus, during this project I generated much more concepts than I usually do ranging from abstract formal wordmarks, a quite complex illustrative concept, and finally several iconic logos, one of which was our guy. So, takeaway here would be: Communication matters!
sketch exploration phase
The logo text is well ballanced with the logo icon. The typeface is clean and simple, easy to read and reproduce on various media. It is sans serif but with slightly irregular curvy shapes which matches perfectly the shapes of the logomark and give a hint about creative flare.
As an experienced logo designer I usually provide a client not only with a logo but with a logo system. So along with a primary exclusive logo design, I usually develop additional logo variations that can be used depending on the media and situation.
